In a world thick with rhythm, rhyme, and mystery, Wiley and the Hairy Man invites audiences into the depths of the Tombigbee Swamp, where a clever boy must outsmart the fearsome figure who haunts his dreams. This lyrical Southern folktale blends storytelling and stagecraft, drawing on poetic language and folklore traditions to bring Wiley’s journey to life. With the help of his loyal dog and wise Mama, Wiley learns to face what frightens him most with courage, wit, and heart.
Performed by Columbia Children’s Theatre’s professional actors, this production is designed especially for young patrons - combining top-tier talent with the kind of heart and humor that students (and grown-ups!) love!
Showtimes & Pricing
Admission is $7.50 per student. One free adult ticket is provided for every ten students in attendance. Reservations require a minimum of 10 tickets. Performances will be held at Richland Library Sandhills (763 Fashion Dr, Columbia, SC 29223).

Through our education program, we make each season’s show available to school and homeschool audiences at a discounted rate to ensure as many young people as possible have access to the arts.
