Theatrical Tap For the Middle Schooler

About this Class

This class is a good fit for:
  • Experiences performers looking to take their skills to the next level
  • First-time performers who are looking to improve quickly with intensive instruction
  • Young actors looking to perform better during auditions
What to Expect:
A perennial favorite, our Advanced Acting course is perfect for young performers at any skill level who are ready to take their acting to the next level.

Taught by CCT Artistic Associate and alumnus of New York's American Academy of the Dramatic Arts Julian Deleon, this course offers students the opportunity to learn acting theory and techniques commonly found at university level.

The core of each week's activities in this course focus on exercises exploring the Stanislavski and Meisner Systems. The Stanislavski system is a series of techniques to train actors to create believable characters through putting themselves in the place of the character, while the Meisner focuses more on the actors relation to others and the immediate environment.

At the intersection of these two systems? A more complete performance.

To help take these new skills into the "real world," students will explore appropriate techniques for auditions from selecting pieces to "marketing" themselves correctly.

To demonstrate their new-found skills, class students will capstone the course by preparing for and executing an in-class "audition."

Safety Procedures

Our first priority is the safety of our staff, actors and audience as we face the COVID-19 crisis.

In light of the CDC's recommendations, we are requesting that all patrons and volunteers attending a performance wear a mask in the lobby and theatre, regardless of vaccination status. We will have masks available for patrons who did not bring one.

Advanced tickets are strongly recommended as walk-in sales will not be available once we have reached capacity.

Learn how we're working to ensure that our performances meet the highest standard for safety in our COVID-19 Guidelines.
