2021 Mainstage Auditions

What You Need to Know

CCT is happy to announce the return of our Mainstage season!   We were founded as a professional theatre for young audiences (TYA) that uses paid adult actors to perform for families, young audiences, and school groups. Since there were no school field trips during the 2020 COVID-related shutdown, Mainstage went exclusively online. For many school districts field trips will be back on beginning this fall so we will once again be holding auditions for our Mainstage season.

Location
Columbia Children's Theatre in Richland Mall between Belk and Barnes and Noble (please enter from the stage door across from the parking garage.)

Dates
Sunday, August 8th from 3:00-5:00 pm and Monday August 9th from 6:30-8:30 pm. Auditions are "drop-in" style so you may attend at any time during those hours.

Audition Requirements:
  • Auditions are open to any adults and teens who will be 15 years old by August 2022.
  • Please prepare 32-64 bars of a Broadway style song to be sung a capella.
  • We will do cold readings from the scripts.  If you have a monologue up and ready to go (meaning memorized cold) then we'd love to hear that as well, but it is not required.
  • Auditions are drop-in style so you do not need to arrive at the beginning and stay through the entirety. Just plan on being there at least 15 minutes before the end time.
  • You do not have to be a "singer singer" to audition although most of the shows except for Akeelah and the Bee are musicals, we just want to see if you can "character sell" a song. We may ask you to vocalize with the piano just to test your ear.
  • Please bring a headshot (optional) and a resume (required) to the audition. We will also have you complete an audition form to get an idea of what shows you might be interested in and of your availability.

Our 2021-22 Season
October - Grace for President
December - The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: The Musical
February - Akeelah and the Bee
April - Junie B. Jones: The Musical
June - Commedia-style production, title TBA

If you have any questions, please email Artistic Director Jerry Stevenson.
