Alice By Heart Auditions
About the Show
In the rubble of the London Blitz of World War II, Alice Spencer’s budding teen life is turned upside down, and she and her dear friend Alfred are forced to take shelter in an underground tube station. When the ailing Alfred is quarantined, Alice encourages him to escape with her into their cherished book and journey down the rabbit hole to Wonderland.
As they travel through the tale,
Alice by Heart explores the poignancy of first love, coming to terms with loss, and finding the courage to move forward. This world premiere musical encourages us all to celebrate the transformational power of the imagination, even in the harshest of times.
Auditions: What You Need to Know
Rehearsal/Production Info
Who: Actors in grades 7-12 (26-27 school year).
When: Auditions will be held on Sunday, December 13th from 3-5pm OR Monday, December 14th from 6-8pm.
Callbacks: Tuesday, December 15th @ 6-8pm (we will let actors who are called back know via email after their audition session if they need to return for callbacks on this date)
Where: Washington St. United Methodist Church (1401 Washington St, Columbia, SC 29201)
*We will open up the doors approximately 10 minutes prior to the start time listed above, and we will audition as a group. Parents will drop their actors off after check-in and come back at the end time listed above.
Steps to take:
- Fill out the Online Audition Form and Conflict Calendar (Google Form)
- Review the Production Information Sheet (pdf file) **By signing the audition form, you agree to adhere to all listed requirements on this sheet.
- Auditionees will be asked to prepare a song from a list of selections that will be released at a later date.
- Actors will also learn a short dance routine and may be asked to read lines from the script at each audition session
- You only need to attend one audition session unless you are asked to return for a callback audition. *Please wear comfortable clothing and close-toed shoes to auditions (no Crocs, please!)
After the Audition:
- The cast list will be sent out via email by Friday, December 18th @8pm. Here you will accept or decline your role.
- There is a one time participation fee of $125 ($250 max per family) due by the first rehearsal. There are a limited number of scholarships available.
- Participation fees and retail items will be available for purchase on our retail page on December 18th.
- Rehearsals begin Monday, January 4th with our read-thru from 6-8pm. Rehearsals will generally be held Monday through Friday evenings, Saturday times vary, and Sunday afternoons. The rehearsal schedule will be released after the first rehearsal.
- Rehearsal conflicts will not be accepted beginning Tuesday, February 16th.
- Performances will be held February 26th-28th at Lexington 2 PAC.
