A Christmas Carol: Field Trips

About the Show

Ebenezer Scrooge is a prosperous curmudgeon who believes that personal wealth is far more valuable than the happiness and comfort of others. With an infuriated "Bah! Humbug!"

Scrooge summates his feelings of Christmas tidings and charitable giving, but he's forced to face his selfish ways when three ghosts on Christmas Eve lead him through his Past, Present and Future. Thanks to their guidance, Scrooge recognizes his faults and greets Christmas morning with a cheerful "Happy Christmas" before spending the day reconnecting and sharing love with those that mean the most to him. A Christmas Carol is a spectacular adaptation of Charles Dickens' most well-known story.

About CCT Field Trips

Since 2005 Columbia Children’s Theatre has been producing Mainstage productions featuring professional actors performing for young people across the Midlands. Through our education program, we make each season’s show availble to school, daycare, and homeschool audiences at a discounted rate to ensure as many young people as possible have access to the arts.

Each field trip opportunity includes a study guide with standards-based material to help your students make deeper connections between the stage and the classroom. Each study guide includes:

  • A theatre career guide that helps students better understand how a theatre runs and what opportunities are availabe to them.
  • A theatre etiquette guide and key terms list that expand student’s cultural literacy and teach them how to think and talk about the theatre.
  • Theatre Games that any teacher can run. These games help students better understand what it means to perform and develop a deeper appreciation for what they are seeing on stage.
  • Discussion activities that help students analyze and contextualize the story that they see on stage.
  • A standards-based design that allows you to seamlessly weave the transformative power of live theatre into your lesson plans.
