Veronica Rice

Veronica Rice received her Bachelor of Arts in Music with an emphasis in Vocal Performance from Wingate University in 2019 and a Master of Music with a double concentration in Vocal Performance and Vocal Pedagogy from East Carolina University in 2021. She currently attends The University of South Carolina working towards a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance with a cognate in Opera Performance and a minor in Music History.


At only 25 years of age, she has performed in 12 full-length operas, 10 of which she held a supporting or leading role, and 2 which were world premieres. Her most prominent roles include Lauretta in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, Mother in Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel,  Ajax 1 in Offenbach’s La belle Hélène, and Council to the Plaintiff in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Trial by Jury.

Janet Hopkins

Janet E Hopkins, mezzo-soprano was a principal soloist at the Metropolitan opera for fifteen seasons.  She was the mezzo soloist for the Verdi requiem at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Tulsa, Minneapolis and South Carolina and had national and international performances in during 2013/14 including Spain, Boston, Charleston, New York, and St. Louis. Her upcoming performances include Tulsa, California, New York, and Italy. 

 

Ms. Hopkins’ recordings include The Ghosts of Versailles and Elektra dvds along with a large collection of Texaco Broadcast “Live from the Met” recordings. She also has several solo recordings available, including Ulysses Kay: Works for Chamber Orchestra and Soprano and Ayala Asherov Kalus’ Cycles of the Moon on Naxos. 


Ms. Hopkins holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education, cum laude, and a Masters Degree in Vocal Performance, cum laude, from the State University of New York, Potsdam, NY. Ms. Hopkins joined the University of South Carolina School of Music in 2008 and is Emeritus Professor of Voice in the School of Music.
